Known as Ground Fault Interrupters, GFIs are installed on electrical outlets to regulate power and direct currents, keeping your home and family safe. GFIs are required by the electrical code for outlets in bathrooms, some kitchen areas, and some outside electrical outlets. If your outlets are not equipped with GFIs, please contact our outlet repair technicians to request service.
GFCI Electrical Outlet Repair
GFCI stands for ground fault circuit interrupter. Also known as GFI, these devices detect variances in the electrical current. When a variance is detected in the electrical current, they will automatically shut off power to the protected part of the circuit.
Generally GFCI outlets are required in areas where moisture or dampness can be. General places include bathroom plugs, kitchen countertops, outside plugs, pool pumps, jacuzzi’s, and other wet and damp locations.
If you have a plug or a device that does not work in one of these locations, the GFCI might be tripped. First, ensure that the situation that caused the tripping is resolved such as ensuring items are dry. Then reset the plug or breaker. The plugs have a test and a reset button. Press the reset button.
If this does not resolve the issue, our Kitchener GFCI outlet repair experts can repair and install GFCI outlets and GFCI breakers throughout your home.
